Dear Allotment Holders
(A couple of things that cant wait for the next newsletter)

1) A Message from Peter Campbell at the Ally Pally Allotment Site

An event to share ways of enjoying allotment produce all year round (freezing, baking, drying and preserves) will take place during the next 'first Sunday' AP allotments cafe on 7 October. We'll set up an extra table (or two) for a display of foods/preserves that plot holders have made from their allotment produce. The aim of the display is to promote the oral sharing of ideas for recipes and approaches.
Please circulate other plot holders at Shepherds Hill to let them know that they would be welcome to join in.
It would be most helpful if anyone able to contribute to the display table would let me know in advance. Please email me at <peter@apaa.org.uk>
Best wishes, Peter

2) North London Cricket Club is inviting you to help yourselves to their vast compost heap where for the past 10 years they have been composting their grass cuttings and annually the top soil from the crease which gets scarified and re-sown at the end of the season.
They do, however, use what they call 'standard pesticides' to control weeds and to discourage worms from making worm casts. We haven't established which pesticides these are precisely and we recommend you discuss this further with the groundsman before tucking in.
The large gates at the cricket club, at the bottom of the track (to the right of the Montenotte entrance to our Allotments) will be open on Sunday 30th from 9-2 and from 1-5 October 9-5.
3) Despite dreadful weather, the Harvest Fair on 22nd raised £260. Pretty good! Again we are most grateful to those who helped make it work.

Yours
The Site Committee: Annie, Ian, Trevor, Julie, Juliet, Gary, Julia, Esther and Lynn
