Winter Warmer
A big thank you to all who came along and helped with a fantastic Winter Warmer last Sunday.  It was a glorious sunny day and the Barn was packed with people enjoying delicious soup, savouries and cakes.  And a lovely atmosphere of conviviality.  On top of which we raised an amazing £1,270, which will provide much needed funds towards our new trading shed.  There are still some gardening books and paintings for sale, pop into the Barn on a Bridge or Café day (dates below) if you would like to have a look.

Plans for the Trading Shed
We will be replacing the Trading Shed in early 2025.  It has lasted us well but is now at the end of its useful life. Demolishing the current shed and buying a new one will cost c£14k; we have received £4,500 from the insurance company for the damage caused by the fallen tree, and the balance will come from SHA funds. We obtained several quotes for the works, and Tim McNaughton will begin work in early January.

The last day of opening for the old Trading Shed is now next Sunday 1st December (this is because we didn’t open it on 24th Nov due to the high winds).

Dates for your Diary

Sunday 1st Dec 10.30 Maintenance working party.  Come and help if you can come.  More work is needed putting down hardcore on the track and paths, and other jobs around the site.
Tuesday 3rd Dec 10.30 Bridge at the Barn, all welcome
Friday 20th Dec 2.30pm Bridge at the Barn, all welcome
Wed 8th Jan 10.30-12.00 Café at the Barn
Sun 26th Jan Café or lunch at the Barn (more details in the new year)
Sun 9th Feb Potato Day

Note: No café or lunch at the Barn in December
And there’s still time to put in your potato orders

Reminders
Don’t forget the site-wide bonfire ban comes in 1st December.   Improvements are being made to the communal composting area all the time, so if you have excess green waste do make use of it.

Remember that if you’re planning to give up your plot you must give notice by 1st December to avoid being charged rent by Haringey for 2025.

And a reminder to be alert about security on the site.  Wolves Lane and some other sites in Haringey have recently reported ‘mass break-ins’ with a large number of sheds having battery powered hand tools stolen.  We recommend not leaving valuables in your shed.
